Instructions
When
installing the daughter card, double check that all the
sockets are properly aligned to the corresponding jumper
headers on Hermes. Since there are no alignment pins, it is
easy to misplace the daughter card by 0.1".
Install jumpers J22 and J24 on the Reference Oscillator
daughter card by following the instructions for Hermes' own
J22 and J24.
Install J23 on the Reference Oscillator daughter card if
you are using the daughter card's TCXO. Otherwise leave it
open.
With the daughter card in place, Hermes will automatically
switch to using the external 10 MHz Reference input when
there is a signal on that port. The external signal is also
rebuffered, allowing the use of a much lower external
reference level to work reliably.
The new TCXO should be calibrated with the trimpot after
installing the daughter card.
